On the 5th of November, the A-level politics students ventured off to De Montfort University in Leicester, looking for more insight into their A-Level course.
Their journey began at Nottingham Station, taking the train to Leicester, which was then followed by an anticipating twenty minute walk to the university campus. Once they arrived, the ‘Congress to Campus’ event began. This event involved two former US house representatives, typically referred to as congressman, Jeff Duncan (republican congressman) and Mike Ross (democrat congressman). Interestingly, Mike Ross worked with former US president Bill Clinton in the 1990’s! The event took place in a lecture hall and offered students the opportunity to ask questions based on recent political events, with a

focus on US politics.
After interviewing Mr Carberry, it was made clear that the trip was a great success! Many students were eager to ask questions based on the topics discussed, specifically towards Jeff Duncan whose opinions differed to the audience, allowing them to enhance their knowledge of US politics. Mr Carberry also pointed out how fortunate they are to go on trips like this one - it was entirely free!
The department will also welcome the Local MP back to Becket in March, something the A level politics group are looking forward to, as they have the opportunity to work with politicians of all parties throughout their studies. Stay tuned!
